What is this “perception bug”? Does it really work in organizations? Who will decide whether someone’s perception is right or wrong? Is it merely an assumption or an understanding? Do you have facts to support your opinion?

Perceptions ???
Perceptions are our understanding about a particular environment or a person or an organization. “Whilst part of what we perceive comes through our senses from the object before us, another part always comes out of our own mind” – William James. Simply put, perception lies at the base of every human behaviour. Perception varies from person to person but it is an integral part of our human personality, as different people perceive different things about the same situation. We assign different meanings to what we perceive, and that creates our belief system – yes, “belief system”

So, now we can understand how important these perceptions are!! So, what should we do about it??

“Perceptions can be more realistic” Learn How ??

As we learnt until now, it is important for us to have perceptions about people and circumstances at a good level. We should learn to make them more real………we need to ask a few questions to ourselves.

Your answer may be Yes, No or Sometimes!!
Do we empathize with others?
Do we know all about the other person?
Are we close to accuracy (not assumptions)?
Are we thinking positively about the situation?
Do we distort our perception knowingly or unknowingly?
Do we keep honest and clear communication?
How fast do we turn our perception into a belief?

This self-analysis will help you to be more realistic in terms of perception about others!!

Perception ⇒ Belief ⇒ Action ⇒ Reaction
Right perception leads to clear vision….!

How to make more realistic perceptions
Now we have learnt how to make more realistic perceptions that will lead us to clear vision about people and situations around us. It is just like taking a clear picture of every situation and then – Clear if any prejudices…Analyze honestly…Focus……Learn ….and Implement!
